Swiss / South African live performer and singer / songwriter since 1979 with among others Wet’n’Wild, Gangsters in Love, Snakebite & the Bluetones, Red Devils, Walking Tattoo, The Clarens All Stars and lately solo as Guenter SOUL MAN Nerlich.

Always in high spirits and hundreds of concerts with his own bands and sharing the bill with or opening for acts like Walter Wolfman Washington; Big Jay McNeely; Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show; Link Wray; Dr John; Crazy Cavan ‘n’ the Rhythm Rockers; Crosby, Stills and Nash; Krokus and many, many more. 46 years on stage. Rock’n’Roll, baby!

Musically re-incarnated in 2022 in Clarens, Free State, South Africa as dj SOUL MAN the mission is to set the dance floor on fire playing dance and party grooves from the 1930’s to today. From Ella Fitzgerald to BB King and James Brown. From Hank Williams sr. to Patsy Cline and Blake Shelton. From The Who to The Rolling Stones and the Red Hot Chilly Peppers. From AVICCII to David Guetta and Lizzo – as dj SOUL MAN he will transform the dance floor and take you on a funky journey around the world.

The Rockabilly Years

Wet’n’Wild saw the light of day in 1979 as a counterpart to punk and new wave. Bobbing quiffs, the sound of Bill Haley, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis were the Ahh! and Ohh! Within 3 years from the damp rehearsal room to the stages and recording studios. TV, radio shows – gigs, gigs, gigs and forever the rock shook and the roll rattled!

The Sweet Soul and R&B Years

And then during the performing Rockabilly years, the realisation where it all came from: Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Big Joe Turner, BB King, Louis Jordan, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave! 1986 was the birth year of the The Gangsters in Love – Switzerlands #1 R&B and Soul Party Gang.

The Roots Rocker & Blues Years

SNAKEBITE & THE BLUETONES – Field research on site in the Mississippi delta and numerous trips to Memphis, New Orleans and Louisiana – the love for the blues, soul and funk became the defining musical element.
